Summer months (June–August) are possible but very hot in the Sahara.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Marrakech → Ouarzazate → Draa Valley
Morning departure from Marrakech over the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass.
Stop at Aït Ben Haddou, the famous UNESCO-listed ksar.
Continue to Ouarzazate (the “Gateway to the Desert”) and onward through the lush palm groves of the Draa Valley.
Overnight in a kasbah-style guesthouse.
Day 2: Zagora → Sahara Camel Trek
Travel further south to Zagora and meet your camel caravan.
Ride across the dunes to a nomad encampment.
Evening tea ceremony with your host family, stargazing in the desert.
Overnight in a simple desert camp.
Day 3: Nomadic Life & Desert Skills
Take part in daily tasks: goat herding, sand bread baking, carpet weaving, and water-fetching.
Learn how nomads navigate the desert using natural signs.
